Sacramento Public Safety Community Loses A Friend
March 04, 2008
Blumenthal's Mourns the Loss of Randy Butler Randy Butler, the founder of Butler’s Uniforms of Sacramento, passed away at age 99 on February 15, 2008. He began serving public safety customers when he founded a shoe repair shop in Sacramento in1942. Within two years, he began selling boots, then uniforms and equipment. Thus began a 65 year career in the field that he loved. He was truly a special man who touched the lives of countless people, those he served and those he worked with as well as family and friends. We feel fortunate to have had someone so special be part of our lives. We were surprised when “Mr. B” at age 97, asked to come to work for us when we decided to open the store in Sacramento. Little did we know all of the great things he would bring to us. Words that come to mind are “warmth,” integrity,” dedication,” and “friend.” Randy Butler served generations of people in the public safety community with pride and a genuine concern for taking care of their needs. He also mentored generations of people who have worked in the uniform industry. There is no doubt that the special relationship we enjoy with many of our customers in Sacramento is a result of all that Mr. B. did throughout his career. All of us will miss his greeting of a warm smile and a firm handshake. We are truly fortunate to have had the pleasure of having Mr. B as a friend and co-worker. |
