Police Investigate South Area Homicide

Uniformed Prison Guard Gunned Down At His Home On Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at 4:59 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department received a call regarding a shooting along the 8400 block of Tambor Way. Responding Officers located a male victim lying in a garage. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he later died.
The Sacramento Police Department’s Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Investigations Unit responded to the scene. At this time, it appears the victim, 39-year-old Steve Lo, was standing near his garage preparing to leave for work when he was shot. Mr. Lo was employed as a Correctional Officer with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. He had been an Officer for approximately three years and was assigned to the California Medical Facility in Vacaville, CA. Mr. Lo was in full uniform at the time he was killed. This is all the information available at this time. The Sacramento Police Department is working closely with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to ensure whoever is responsible for this homicide is held accountable. Lo leaves behind a wife, three sons and two daughters. Governor Schwarzenegger issued a statement on Lo's death, saying, "We are forever grateful for Officer Steve Lo's dedication to serving our state while working at the California Medical Facility... we send our thoughts and prayers to Steve's family, friends and fellow officers as they mourn this terrible loss."
